Professor Ransford Gyampo and Dr. Paul Kwame Butakor of the University of Ghana (UG) were fired after their names were named in a secret BBC investigation in which they offered sex to female students in exchange for good grades, it was reported on Thursday.
According to the images of the undercover investigation broadcast on Joy TV on Monday evening, the two speakers were trying to seduce the students who approached them for help in their studies.
According to a statement signed by Dr. Stella Amoa, Director of Public Affairs at the University, the two speakers will be summoned to the Anti-Sexual Harassment Committee in the coming days to assist in investigations.
The university attaches great importance to issues of sexual harassment and inappropriate conduct and condemns such acts if they occur, the statement added.
The administration encourages female students to be bold and denounce professors who harass them on campus so that appropriate measures can be taken against them.
This sexual scandal, which broke out on Monday evening, provoked a lot of reactions in Ghana.
