The President of the Democratic Republic of Congo has arrived at the official residence of the Governor of South Kivu where a security council is to be held with some Provincial Governors on Wednesday, October 9, 2019.
He is currently in a Security Council meeting with some governors in the region.
Long before, the Governors of South Kivu, Tanganyika, Maniema, Ituri and a representative of the Governor of North Kivu discussed with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior and Security before the meeting with the Head of State began.
This is a large meeting that should, according to several sources, discuss common security problems in order to find appropriate solutions.
As you know, last Monday, when he was addressing the thousands of people who had come to wait for him at Bukavu’s Place de l’Indépendance, the President of the Democratic Republic of Congo suggested that he was ready to die provided that security returned to the east of the DRC.
“The well-being of Congolese man begins with the challenge of peace. I am aware of your suffering. I will spare no effort to maintain our armed forces, and to do everything in my power to ensure that they are able to do their duty of imposing peace throughout the national territory. And this peace, believe me, I am ready to die so that it can become a reality,” said Felix Tshisekedi.
This meeting follows the meeting of the Provincial Security Council held on Tuesday, which brought together several members involved in security in the provinces.
After this step, President Tshisekedi is expected to visit the Beni region on Thursday. The main issue here too remains the security issue.
